I Steel Into His House

[AS SPOKEN]

I steel into his house
a rifle the size of a woman’s handbag.
I have studied this
since he lay in a bed next to me,
counting his humiliations, his victories.
“I want to put the evil into you.”
And he did!
And now I am crawling through the ficus,
mud on my eyelashes,
blissfully disconnected from
every other soul
but the soul of revenge!
(scream! scream! scream!)

I am liberated
I am a train running through a mountain,
full speed! all steam!
twists and turns
destroyed by a bad room!
I have no more choices!
You fucking walking wound,
your victory will not be forever.
The quiet ones have secrets:
We are more ruthless than you are.
We are more ruthless than you are.

You parson
You poison my roots
You poison my leaves
You poison the waves of sound
that carry messages from tropical island castaways.
I send Papa Legba!
I send Papa Legba!
and my father!
And all the frogs
of the lakeshores of Nashua!
Then the spots coalesce
Through my will
Through my will!
Into a point of energy
you cannot survive!
you cannot survive!

You cannot survive!
Go!
Go boys!
Yaaaaaaah! Yaaaaaaah!

[AS WRITTEN]

I steel into his house
a rifle the size
of a woman’s handbag.
I have studied for this since
he lay in a bed next to me,
counting his humiliations, his
victories. “I wanted to put
the evil into you.” And he did.
So now I am crawling through
the ficus, mud on my eyelashes,
blissfully disconnected from
every other soul but the soul
of revenge. I can smell the
wet earth. My back is cut
and bleeding. I am liberated
like a train running through a
mountain, full speed, all steam,
all twists and turns designed by
a board room. I have
no more choices. You fucking
walking wound, your victory will
not be forever. The quiet ones
have secrets. We are more

ruthless than you are.
You poison my air
You poison my green
and purple leaves
You poison the waves
of sound that carry
messages from
tropical island castaways.
I send Papa Legba
and my father
And all the frogs
murdered on a
lakeshore in Nashua
Their spirits
coalesce
Through my will
Into a point of
energy you
can never survive
