There’s Something About You People Don’t Like

AS READ

There’s something about you people just don’t like
You stand up crying, showing your tears like you’re supposed to around here:
Wimpy, victim, unattractive
There’s something about you people just don’t like
And you can’t figure it out

There’s something about you people just don’t like
So you show up smiling, giving a lift to everyone else, won’t be a burden, be a gift
Arrogant, selfish, unattractive
There’s something about you people just don’t like
And you can’t figure it out

There’s a wall between you and the world
A cluster of grey walls
A labyrinth, asymmetrical and bizarre
Nothing you’d ever put in an English garden
No magical prince and princess would delight to get lost in them, even if they were green

There’s something about you people just don’t like
So you show up naked, giving a laugh to the whole room
They’re tittering, and slightly remorseful
They can’t actually worry about themselves for a while
So they look at all the wobbly bits
And realize you’re just like them

There’s something about you
You’re human
You’re scarred like the rocks from under the earth
Like a tree devoured by fungus
But it’s not under the surface
For you it’s right there, it’s plain to see
There’s something about you you don’t like
You’re human
You’re divine

AS WRITTEN

There’s something about you people just don’t like
You stand up crying, showing your tears like you’re supposed to here
Wimpy, victim, unattractive
There’s something about you people just don’t like
And you can’t figure it out

There’s something about you people just don’t like
You show up smiling, giving a lift to everyone else, won’t be a burden, be a gift
Arrogant, selfish, unattractive
There’s something about you people just don’t like
And you can’t figure it out

There’s a wall between you and the world
A cluster of grey walls
A labyrinth, asymmetrical and bizarre
Nothing you’d ever put in a painting
The designer of an English garden would scoff it he saw them
No magical prince and princess would delight to get lost in them, even if they were green
Disgusting.

There’s something about you people just don’t like
(It could be you look better smiling want to frown
You’re not the kind of bony hero that can pull it off.
Shit luck.)
So you show up naked, giving a laugh to the whole room, they’re tittering, and slightly remorseful
They can’t actually worry about themselves when they look at all the wobbly bits
And they stop worrying long enough
To realize you’re just like them

There’s something about you
You’re human
You’ve scarred like the rocks from under the earth
Like a tree devoured by fungus
But it’s not under the surface
For you it’s right there, plain to see
There’s something about you you just don’t like
You’re human
You’re divine
